2015 newsletter

Hi all

Well, the plan was for a quarterly update here…but with Facebook and all activities….it was just not done….SORRY.

Here our newsletter (link) covering all 12 months 🙂 We thank everybody for your friendship and please do keep in touch.

We wish everybody a happy new year and all the best!

First Quarter 2015….

….already gone again…..Times flies!

We had a busy, but good first three months. The medical issues of my brother ask for attention, but we are glad to be close to help. In January we went a full week of skiing in Austria – Nauders. The kids did great and after a day repetition they went on the real ski lift and by Friday they took on any hill with the friendly teacher. Sarah was excited to win the race in her group.

Nora is very busy with the construction site. She looks everyday which vans are parked and than goes and gives advice or brings a cake, in order they do not take too long breaks. Colors, Kitchen, floor etc….. workers have questions before final install. We are very happy and can not wait to move in beginning of June.

With Easter warmer temperatures arrived and kids spend lots of time with neighbors on the road cycling and playing. They are doing good in school and we can see, that Sarah is loosing her “language barrier” more every day. Stefan took a few days off around Easter and we had fun in museum and bike tour while Nora was studying for her TEOFL German test. The girls had their Konstanz outing and enjoyed some breakfasts outside (something we miss from the USA a lot)…..

Happy New Year – Newsletter

Despite loosing parents between September and December, the whole family made it a priority to have a “normal Xmas” for the girls. We had a relaxing time, a tree and gifts at Uncle Juergs and the great tradition of self made laterns on New Years eve!

We are pleased to share our latest edition of the newsletter!

Unser newsletter ist online. (Feedbacks auf die deutsche Version waren sehr rar, deshalb haben wir auf eine Uebersetzung verzichtet)

August – December 2013

In August  Sarah started 1st grade and Nadiah the first Kindergarten class. They like it very much and Nora gets exercise by walking Nadiah to her place and pick her up. School is good and Sarah takes advantage of the buddy system. A six grader takes care of the beginners.
In fall we went to Austria for a few day with uncle Juerg, attended the wedding of Haiming and Speedy and enjoyed some hikes in the mountains. We had to admit Nana to a dementia ward, as it got too dangerous at home. Opapi broke his hip a few weeks later and spent the rest of 2013 in hospitals and rehab.

Wil is known for tradition. Advent was filled with activities, Stefan’s beloved St. Nikolaus, Singing in the old town for the kids and Sarah crafted her own lantern for the New Years Eve parade. We were ready for the Singi family to arrive to celebrate Xmas and have winter fun. (See newsletter)

May to July 2013

On her way from Yale USA to Singapore, Faizah did stop at our house. the girls were excited to have her here and she went around St. Gallen with historical guide Uncle Juerg, Konstanz and around Wil. The birthdays of the girls we did celebrate as a family. For Sarah, Papi organized a birthday party with a treasure hunt. The kids enjoyed the clues and especially food, drinks and games at Nana and Opapis garden.

End of June, we had a long weekend in the mountains of the french part of Switerland. My USA successor and good friend Albert and his wife Pingo did host us at their chalet. The kids enjoyed the ride and staying at a real mountain house. Hikes, games and great hosts guaranteed a mini vacation that felt like weeks. Sarah had year-end activities at Kindergarten and we really appreciate the methodology of Ms Suter in her class. Sarah made huge progress in German and liked every day at her Kindergarten.

July, Nora and the kids went to Singapore for a time filled with their families.
